According to the census bureau from 2008, the population of Effingham County is 50,354. The population for those age 18 and over is 36,577.

The median household income is $53,406 and the median family income is 62,396. In fact, about 9% of the total population ages 18 and over were below the poverty line over the ...past 12 months. That's less than $23,000/year for a family of four.

Although the situation in our economy may look dire, I want you to be encouraged. There is hope for those that are coachable and are willing to take massive action now.

On January 1, 2010, I had an opportunity to come back home to speak at the Annual Emancipation Proclamation program in Effingham County. I had never been to the program, but I had an idea of what to expect. I think there was about 50 people in attendance, but very few people between the ages of 18 to 40. I understand the lack of attendance by the leaders of tomorrow, and I am committed to bridging the gap between the past and the future. It was a wonderful program and a great way to start this decade. Those in attendance got just a glimpse of what is on the horizon.

To my family, the community of Effingham County, it's time for action. Remember, I said there were three words that you needed to apply to your life in order to experience an extra-ordinary life - Motivation, Leverage, and Knowledge. This is an example of how easy it is to apply knowledge and leverage that knowledge when there is motivation (i.e. a burning desire).
